Campaign
|
About the CampaignWe are asking local officials of Ventura County as well as Los Angeles County to support the construction of the Liberty Canyon wildlife bridge. The bridge would connect the Simi Hills with the Santa Susana Mountains; therefore, both counties must be in support of constructing the worlds largest wildlife corridor.
The construction of a wildlife corridor would be extremely beneficial to both the public as well as the local animals. It would be a visual representation of how much the people of Southern California care about wildlife and wild places. Please sign the petition below to join our cause https://www.change.org/p/local-government-wildlife-corridor |
Show your SupportWe are asking that you show your support of this cause through donation. The projected cost to complete this project is about $35 million but this can only happen through your generous donations. The mountain lions, bobcats, deer, along with other wildlife were able to roam freely on this land before the effects of urbanization. Help give back what is rightfully theirs.
Our partners on the #SaveLACougars Campaign (to the right) have already raised more than a million dollars. They expect funding for the project to come from a variety of public and private sources. Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, said a good portion of the money could come from mitigation dollars that would arise from future widening projects elsewhere along the 101 Freeway. Once our petition is signed, we plan on presenting it to Congress in order to get federal funding. We are seeking a categorial grant in order to help match funds which have already been raised. You can help by sharing this issue with your local representative.
